PA Family Support Alliance Recertified for 'Standards of Excellence Seal' From PANO
HARRISBURG, Pa., May 19 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Pennsylvania Family Support Alliance (PFSA) has been recertified as a recipient of the Standards of Excellence Seal awarded by the Pennsylvania Association of Nonprofit Organizations (PANO).
The certification is given to nonprofit organizations that adhere to high standards of self-regulation, accountability, and openness in all phases of their operations, including programs, board governance, human resources, financial and legal, fund-raising, and public affairs.
PFSA was recertified for a five-year period.
"We're pleased that our continuing efforts to operate in an efficient, forthright, and open manner have once again been recognized by PANO," said PFSA Executive Director Angela Liddle. "Because of the nature of our mission, we believe it's important to show that we're committed to earning the trust not only of the agencies and program partners we work with but also the general public."
PFSA works through schools, early childhood education centers, religious institutions, and social service agencies to teach "mandated reporters" to recognize the signs of child abuse and neglect and how to appropriately report such cases.
Mandated reporters are people who frequently come into contact with children in the course of performing their jobs and are required by law to report abuse and neglect. They include doctors and nurses, health and social service workers, teachers and school employees, law enforcement authorities, and members of the clergy.
PFSA presented 294 training sessions on reporting child abuse and neglect throughout Pennsylvania during its 2008-09 program year. These sessions provided face-to-face training for 7,880 mandated reporters.
PFSA also works with affiliated member agencies across Pennsylvania to provide information, educational materials, and programs that teach and support good parenting practices.
