PA Department of Health Marks Sept. 19-26 as 'Health, Wealth and Wellness Week'
HARRISBURG, Pa., Sept. 17 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Department of Health today encouraged Pennsylvanians to take charge of their overall health by participating in local events across the state, marking Sept. 19-26 as the Fourth Annual Health, Wealth and Wellness Week.
Sponsored by the Pennsylvania Department of Health's Office of Health Equity, the week urges businesses, community and faith-based organizations and government agencies to offer programs and activities to enhance their community's health, wealth and wellness. Events taking place throughout the state include free health screenings, immunization clinics, fundraising walks, financial workshops and health expos.
To mark "Health, Wealth and Wellness Day" on Wednesday, Sept. 22, the department will sponsor a health fair in Harrisburg providing information about wellness, nutrition and financial information. The event will take place at Soldier's Grove, adjacent to the Capitol, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Residents will be able to receive free health screenings, including kidney and blood pressure screenings and body mass index, or BMI, levels. A nutritionist will be on-site to provide healthy eating information and a fitness demonstration will be offered. All services are free to the public.
