PA Cyber, PA Virtual Share Cyber School Ideas
MIDLAND, Pa., Sept. 16 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Administrative teams from the Pennsylvania Cyber Charter School and the Pennsylvania Virtual Charter School met for two days to share best practices and new ideas.
Led by CEO Dr. Joanne A. Jones Barnett, 10 top PAVCS administrators toured PA Cyber facilities in Midland and met with their counterparts Tuesday and Wednesday, Sept. 14-15.
Leading the host team was Dr. Nick Trombetta, founder and CEO of PA Cyber. "After 10 years of innovation and experience, the staffs of our two schools have an extraordinarily valuable depth and breadth of expertise to share to the benefit of our student families," he said.
"Our two schools have long communicated and collaborated in many ways, including a continuing effort with other cyber and charter schools to ensure that Pennsylvania families have the option of educational choice," said Dr. Barnett. "It is very helpful for our administrative people to sit down with their peers on this visit to discuss common problems and share exciting new initiatives."
Dr. Trombetta noted that school districts across Pennsylvania currently are trying to start their own cyber programs. "Eventually they will catch up to where we are now," he said. "Our job is to continue to pioneer and innovate so that cyber charter schools remain on the leading edge of education."
The Pennsylvania Virtual Charter School is a public cyber charter school of choice chartered and approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. PAVCS serves more than 4,000 students throughout Pennsylvania from kindergarten through 12th grade in a home-based setting.
PA Cyber Charter School is celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2010. It is the state's largest cyber charter school, serving 9,500 students from age 4 kindergarten through high school senior.
