PA Cyber Charter School among Post-Gazette 'Top Workplaces'
PITTSBURGH, Sept. 27, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette newspaper has once again named the Pennsylvania Cyber Charter School to the list of "Top Workplaces" in the Pittsburgh region, based upon extensive employee surveys conducted by an independent research firm.
PA Cyber ranked among the top 10 and was one of only two educational institutions recognized in the category of large organizations -- those employing 400 or more -- in this region.
"A school is only as good as the teachers, administrators and other staff that serve its students' families," said PA Cyber CEO Dr. Michael J. Conti. "This ranking demonstrates that despite the difficulties our school has faced over the past year, our professional educational staff remains dedicated to the mission and direction that PA Cyber has held to since its founding."
The rankings were announced at a Sept. 25 evening awards ceremony at Heinz Field, and published in a special newspaper section inserted in Thursday's Post-Gazette.
The Post-Gazette's Top Workplaces website coverage included an interactive map allowing visitors to learn more about each ranked organization, and to view anonymous comments given to surveyors by employees.
Among comments listed from PA Cyber employees were:
- "I love teaching and working for an innovative school that gives children the opportunity to learn in a way that best meets their needs."
- "I enjoy helping families who care for their children and their children's education."
- "I have an opportunity to teach, interact with families and students, and work on a great team."
- "It allows me to make a difference in the lives of youth."
- "We are providing a great service to over 11,000 families."
"PA Cyber's leadership is pleased and honored by the confidence expressed by the results of this survey," Dr. Conti said. "It renews our belief that our school has the most professional, dedicated and caring staff of any cyber charter school in the nation."
PA Cyber Charter School was Pennsylvania's first online K-12 public school, and today serves 11,000 students tuition-free throughout the commonwealth. PA Cyber is still enrolling students for the current school year. Interested parents may visit www.pacyber.org or call toll-free 1.888.PACYBER (1.888.722.9237).
