Dr. Helen Soulé, P21 Executive Director, expressed strong support for the bipartisan Four C's for Careers Act. Soulé said, "P21 commends Rep. Costello and Rep. Loebsack for their tireless efforts to ensure students graduate with the skills required for workplace and academic success. The Four C's for Careers Act will further help states and districts strengthen and improve their career and technical education programs. The legislation is a significant step in the right direction for the nation's CTE students and American business and industry."
The Four C's for Careers Act proposes to amend the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act of 2006 to ensure CTE programs prepare students for the ever-changing economy and workforce. This act also builds upon and enhances the great work being led by Chairman Kline and Ranking Member Scott of the Education and the Workforce Committee with the passage of H.R. 5587, Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act. On July 7, H.R. 5587 passed the committee by a vote of 37 to 0 and now moves on to the House of Representatives for consideration.
P21 is committed to working closely with Mr. Costello, Mr. Loebsack, and the entire House 21st Century Skills Caucus to secure the bill's integration with the next Perkins Career and Technical Education Act.
