Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust and the Bodleian Libraries Select ClinicalKey
LONDON, October 29, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
One of the UK's largest teaching trusts and its largest university library system to provide Elsevier's pioneering 'Clinical Insight Engine' for hospital staff, researchers and clinical medical students
Elsevier, a world-leading provider of scientific, technical and medical information products and services, announced today that it has signed a one-year agreement with Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust (OUH) and the Bodleian Libraries providing access to ClinicalKey. Launched earlier this year, ClinicalKey draws answers from the largest proprietary collection of clinical resources, covering every medical and surgical specialty.
Under the terms of the agreement, all OUH staff and all University of Oxford clinical medical students will have access to ClinicalKey's content, which includes more than 900 textbooks, 500 top medical journals and 9,000 procedural videos, providing the most current clinically relevant evidence-based answers, as well as expert commentary, MEDLINE abstracts and select third-party journals.
"Fast access to up-to-date scientific information is a vital element for all heath care workers and researchers. We were really impressed with ClinicalKey and what it has to offer, and we're delighted to offer this resource to our NHS staff and clinical students," commented Donald Mackay, Head of Health Care Libraries at the Bodleian Libraries, University of Oxford. Sue Robertson Libraries Manager at the OUH library at the NOC and Horton noted, "Clinical excellence is a big priority for us, and we are confident that this tool can help our Trust to work smarter and more efficiently."
OUH is a world renowned centre of clinical excellence and one of the largest NHS teaching trusts in the UK. The Bodleian Libraries of the University of Oxford form the largest university library system in the United Kingdom, offering access to 11 million printed items, in addition to 50,000 e-journals.
"Since we launched in April, we've had some great feedback from users," said Sebastian Vos, Senior Vice President, e-Solutions, EMEA-LA, Health Science at Elsevier. "We understand that the needs of clinicians are changing; they want better access to fast, trusted, more comprehensive information. ClinicalKey does just this, fitting in with their workflow and helping to overcome the increasing time pressures. And, this is just the beginning; our future vision is to develop a deeper integration that will allow for interoperability of IT systems within the NHS."
