The Oxfam Collection Debuts Exclusively on OxfamGifts.com
BOSTON, Nov 16, 2010 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Oxfam America launched its 2010 holiday gift-giving campaign today, which takes a satirical look at fashion and uses a fictional designer called "the Hidalgo," played by comedian Chris Wylde, to introduce gift-givers to the Oxfam Collection.

The Oxfam Collection is a special set of gifts offered this season on OxfamGifts.com featuring a goat, an alpaca meadow, and a dozen chicks taken out of their usual village settings and put on the runway by the Hidalgo.
"OxfamGifts.com transforms serious gift giving into something that is fun and fashionable. People want to give gifts that do good. This is a light-hearted take on gifts that make a difference that will actually turn heads and get people laughing," said Stephanie Kurzina, Vice President for Development and Communications at Oxfam America.
Philanthropic, fashion-forward holiday gift-givers can take their pick from the season's must-have livestock without the hassle of dealing with long lines and aggressive label hounds. Loved ones will receive a card featuring the stylish, high-fashion farm animals, and someone in need will receive a life-changing gift that improves their quality of life, and that supports Oxfam's mission of fighting poverty, hunger and social injustice around the world.
The Hidalgo and the Oxfam Collection will be featured in an integrated marketing campaign including online ads, a presence on Facebook and Twitter (@TheHidalgo), and multiple videos that will be featured on fashion blogs as well as television ads.
Long-time supporter and Oxfam ambassador Scarlett Johansson played the part of a Hidalgo fan for the campaign videos. She gushes, "If I weren't an actress, I'd want to be a fashion designer. And if I were a fashion designer, I'd want to be the Hidalgo." Minnie Driver, also an Oxfam ambassador said, "The Oxfam Collection shows how giving can be fashionable again. And no one saw it coming except the Hidalgo." The Oxfam Collection has garnered rave reviews from fashionistas and celebrities including Joy Bryant, Anna Torv, and Giada de Laurentiis.
In addition to The Oxfam Collection, Oxfam America will also be offering a selection of more than 60 gifts at a range of prices, including everything from manure and crabs to school supplies and mosquito nets. All gift contributions are general donations to Oxfam America and fully tax-deductible. For more information or to give someone this season's "it" gift, visit OxfamGifts.com.
