RIDGEFIELD, Conn., Dec. 7, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Owl Computing Technologies, Inc. (www.owlcti.com), a high-tech provider of data diode cybersecurity solutions, is proud to announce, in the spirit of Giving Tuesday, a company initiative designed to sponsor and promote employee volunteerism. In 2017 Owl employees will have the opportunity to use a full paid day off to volunteer for a cause of their choice, either on one day or broken up over multiple days.
Originating in 2012 with the United Nations Foundation, Giving Tuesday was started to counter-balance the consumerism fostered by Black Friday and Cyber Monday and offer people a way to give back to the community.
"We strongly believe in a proper work/life balance at Owl. Providing each employee with a day off to volunteer and give back to a local initiative they support is another way we help strike that balance," explained Janet Mraz, Owl Corporate Officer. "We are very excited to see the different programs and projects our employees choose to get involved in."
Owl also supports an annual giving campaign during December. In 2015, Owl sent 40 care packages with food, snacks and other goodies to U.S. troops serving overseas during the Christmas season. This year Owl is working with Toys of Hope based in NY to deliver clothing, toys and sports equipment to needy teens.
"We are very proud of these initiatives and appreciate the fact that we are in a position to offer our employees opportunities to support our communities in multiple ways," enthused Dr. Ronald Mraz, President and CEO of Owl. "Our volunteer initiative has the potential to contribute hundreds of volunteer hours to local causes during 2017."
