Overseas Adventure Travel Announces Top 10 Solo Travel Adventures for Boomers & Beyond
BOSTON, Sept. 8, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Kara O'Toole, CEO of Overseas Adventure Travel, today revealed OAT's Top 10 Solo Travel Adventures based on 2014-2015 year-to-date bookings with the small group tour operator that serves Americans aged 50 and older. African safaris top the list, while other popular adventures span the globe to include those in Asia, South America, and Europe.
"Close to 40 per cent of our travelers now travel solo with us regardless of marital status," said O'Toole. "American boomers and seniors clearly have a bucket list of destinations they are determined to see, regardless of whether a partner or spouse can tag along. African safaris are among the most requested adventure, although our overall Top 10 list demonstrates that older Americans, like all of us, have diverse interests."
In the past two years, OAT has experienced a 26 percent increase in solo bookings—an increase largely due to OAT's policy of offering Free Single Supplements on all of its adventures and pre-and-post trip optional excursions. Due to high demand for solo travel, OAT recently added additional solo space to many 2014-2015 departures, including those on the following Top 10 list, so solo space is still available, although limited.
