The Massive Mobile RAN Market Returns to Growth—Likely Will Pull Other Sales

REDWOOD CITY, Calif., July 10, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Newly published reports by Dell'Oro Group, the trusted source for market information about the networking and telecommunications industries, reveal that overall market sales remained at approximately $32 billion in the first quarter 2013. Equipment sales to both Enterprise and Service Provider users were level, versus the year-ago period, but each sector is characterized by significant cross trends.

Enterprise users increased spend on equipment optimized for deployment in the data center and enterprise edge to enable network access by wireless devices. Spend declined on wired enterprise access and telephony.

Service Provider users followed a similar pattern of increasing spend on wireless equipment while cutting spend on wireline equipment. Wireless network equipment sales grew 5 percent, while wireline equipment sales declined 6 percent.

"Within the Wireless sector, Wireless Packet Core sales grew the most, but the largest contributor in dollars came from Mobile RAN.
