Over $30 Million in Free Health Care Services to be Made Available To Phoenix Residents Within 72 Hours
Free Mega Medical, Dental & Eye Care Mobile Hospital at the Phoenix Convention Center on Dec. 25-27
UPDATE: VOLUNTEERS SURGE TO OVER 3,300; PRESS CONFERENCE CALLED
PHOENIX, Dec. 21, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Approximately 3,300 healthcare professionals and volunteers will operate a no-cost medical and dental mobile hospital in Phoenix, Arizona on December 25-27, 2017. Over $30 million in free health-related services will be offered to noninsured and underinsured residents of greater Phoenix at the Phoenix Convention Center.
A press conference has been called at 8:30am (MST) on Friday, December 22 to alert Phoenix residents of the free services. The press conference will take place at the Phoenix Convention Center, North Building, Lower Level, Hall 4 and will be attended by Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton along with Pathway to Health organizers.
The event is organized by Your Best Pathway to Health, a humanitarian service of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, in cooperation with Loma Linda University Health, and other entities.
Free onsite services include surgical procedures under IV sedation such as colonoscopy, cystoscopy, hysteroscopy, EGD, cataract and many other surgical procedures.
Other free on-site services include primary care visits, women's health services including pap smears and mammography, consultation by medical specialists including heart evaluation, as well as gastroenterology, neurology, pulmonology, rheumatology, infectious disease, general and orthopedic surgery, pediatrics, podiatry services, immunizations, root canals, crowns, fillings, extractions, dental cleaning, pharmacy, eyeglass fittings and examinations, STD screenings, medical massage,physical therapy, x-rays, laboratory services, attorney services, financial counseling, chaplaincy services and a free meal.
"Accessing health care continues to be a challenge and a great need for many in the community," said Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton. "But I'm thankful for the medical professionals and volunteers who are giving their time and talents to help those in need."
In an effort to serve as many Phoenix residents as possible, media outlets are encouraged to alert residents that services will be offered on a first come, first served basis. No insurance and no identification are required. The free clinic runs from 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. on December 25 & 26, and from 7:00 a.m. – noon on December 27.
No appointment is necessary, other than for major surgical procedures, which require pre-surgery visits.
