NEW YORK, May 22, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The microblogging social network Happy Fuel hosted its second Internet Week New York event on Tuesday, May 20 at the Union Square Ballroom. It was a huge hit, with over 200 media and digital professionals in attendance.

The event, titled Social Media + Happiness = Happy Media Happy Hour, created a real-time, experiential version of the happy things guests can share on Happy Fuel's mobile and web apps, which allow you to store, gauge, and share photos, videos, songs, locations, and thoughts.
Throughout the evening, guests posted hundreds of happy moments to Happy Fuel and could see them added in real time to a 60-square-foot video screen, known as the "happy wall." Limited-edition Happy Fuel T-shirts were given out for the best posts.
The large room was adorned with sights and sounds designed to promote happiness and to inspire others to share their happiness on Happy Fuel and other social media, using hashtags such as #happyfuel and #liveinthehappy.
"It was wonderful to see happiness in action, to watch our guests discover, share, and fuel their happy moments in real time," said Elizabeth Elfenbein, founder of Happy Fuel. "It's been great to see our Internet Week New York event grow, just as Happy Fuel itself has evolved."
Live flamenco music was provided by the acclaimed group Jay & Lee, and the bakery Sweetery gave out Happy Fuel–themed cookies from a life-size version of their popular food truck. Guests could sit and relax with friends and surfboards on a "happy beach," get a free massage, and pose in a cutout based on the cover of The Beatles' classic Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.
"The attendance this year was much higher than for our launch party last year. It just goes to show that happiness and Happy Fuel are contagious," said Elfenbein.
