ATLANTA, Dec. 12, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The U. S. Small Business Administration has approved over $1 million in Disaster Assistance Loans for residents and business owners in Virginia affected by the earthquake. The deadline to return applications for physical damage is January 3, 2012.

"Currently, 40 home and business disaster loans have been approved in the amount of $1,221,900 for affected survivors," said Frank Skaggs, director of SBA's Field Operations Center East in Atlanta. "We are pleased to be able to get these loans approved so residents and businesses in the disaster area can continue to rebuild and resume their normal lives."
To be considered for all forms of disaster assistance, call the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) at 800-621-FEMA (3362), (TTY) 800-462-7585 for the deaf and hard-of-hearing. Additional details on the locations of Disaster Recovery Centers and the loan application process can be obtained by calling the SBA Customer Service Center at 800-659-2955 (800-877-8339 for the deaf and hard-of-hearing) or by sending an email to [email protected].
Those affected by the disaster may also apply for disaster loans electronically from SBA's website at https://disasterloan.sba.gov/ela/.
The deadline to return SBA applications for physical property damage is January 3, 2012. The deadline to return applications for economic injury is August 6, 2012.
