Outstanding Washington State Philanthropists to be Honored at Association of Fundraising Professionals - Washington Chapter's 25th Anniversary National Philanthropy Day Luncheon
SEATTLE, Oct. 2, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- In celebration of its 25th year, The Association of Fundraising Professionals – Washington Chapter has named six outstanding philanthropists to honor at its National Philanthropy Day luncheon.
The luncheon, with the theme of "National Philanthropy Day 2013: Celebrating Washington Philanthropists for 25 years," will be held Nov. 14, 2013, at The Westin Hotel in downtown Seattle. More than 1,000 donors, volunteers, leaders and other supporters of nonprofit organizations are expected to attend – making it one of the largest National Philanthropy Day celebrations in the nation.
"The 25th Silver Anniversary Celebration is a great testament to our sector and the power of philanthropy in the Pacific Northwest! Just look at the range of amazing nonprofits covered through our honorees today. We have representation from every sector throughout the region," said Debra Crespin, president of the Association of Fundraising Professionals – Washington Chapter, and associate director of philanthropy with the Nature Conservancy of Washington. "It is a great testament to community building and mission advancement."
Each November the Association of Fundraising Professionals - Washington Chapter joins national and international colleagues to honor and support the efforts and passions of philanthropic leaders and the organizations they serve.
The 2013 honorees are:
John and Mary "Buzz" Folsom – Outstanding Philanthropists (Lakewood, Wash.)
Phillips 66 Ferndale Refinery – Outstanding Philanthropic Corporation (Ferndale, Wash.)
RAM Construction and Mike Hammes - Outstanding Small Company (Bellingham)
Lenny Wilkens Foundation - Outstanding Philanthropic Organization (Kirkland, Wash.)
Ackerley Family – Outstanding Philanthropic Family (Seattle)
Students in Boo Schneider's 3rd grade class at Ordway Elementary School - Outstanding Young Philanthropists (Bainbridge Island)
