Money Management International nominates Taunya Kennedy for annual Award of Excellence
SUGAR LAND, Texas, Sept. 19, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Money Management International (MMI) is pleased to nominate Taunya Kennedy of Chicago, Illinois for the 2017 NFCC Counselor of the Year. The award will be announced during the NFCC Connect conference, October 1 – 4 in Anaheim, California.
Ms. Kennedy is responsible for spearheading the student loan counseling efforts at MMI, and strives to find creative solutions for the consumers she serves. As an NFCC-certified and trained student loan counselor, she observes trends in the industry, and is crucial to service delivery and program expansion decisions. She previously led efforts in MMI's foreclosure prevention and pre-purchase housing counseling programs.
Most recently, Kennedy played an integral role in providing testing and insight for MMI's student loan analysis software. She also addressed an open letter to business titan Jeff Bezos regarding a philanthropic opportunity to support MMI's efforts. Internally, Kennedy is regarded as a skilled professional whose experience and perspective can be relied upon. The personal finance website, NerdWallet, recently highlighted her work and the plight of student loan borrowers.
"Taunya's voice is vitally important in dialogues regarding student loan counseling, and she is a relentless advocate for borrowers in those discussions," said her manager, Saundra Auringer. "Taunya is one of the most well rounded, effective counselors our agency has had the privilege to employ," added Jim Triggs, Senior Vice President of Counseling at MMI. "She excels in her role and has a remarkable ability to connect with consumers in their time of need."
Throughout her tenure, Kennedy has remained committed to professional development. In addition to her NFCC certifications, she received Homeward PATH Homeownership Readiness Training and graduated from Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University. She is a designated Pre-Purchase Housing Counselor for the State of Illinois, and was on the front lines of the housing crisis with her work on the Illinois Hardest Hit Program.
MMI clients have expressed delight with outcomes of Ms. Kennedy's guidance, and have found relief in their ability to move forward with their lives after receiving counseling. In addition to student loans, Kennedy assists with credit card debt, housing issues, and other financial concerns. Her innovative approach and commitment to results has allowed her to counsel hundreds of borrowers each year, and she embodies MMI's mission of Improving Lives through Financial Education.
