WESTPORT, Conn., Jan. 20, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- OUTSIDE TV, the premiere national network dedicated to adventure lifestyle, continues to make strides in creating and securing top-quality, new, original and exclusive programming. From internationally revered outdoor icons to behind-the-scenes peeks of what it truly means to be an elite athlete, Outside TV has created a unique and compelling mix of content for their audience.
New Exclusive Original Programming
"XPT: The Experience" is co-hosted by legendary waterman Laird Hamilton, his wife - former pro-volleyball player and model wife Gabrielle Reece, and their business partner Brian MacKenzie. Based on their unique Breath, Move, Recover philosophy, the series is told through the eyes of 20 XPT training method participants, including pro athletes and celebrities including: former NFL players Steve Wright and Bill Romanowski, actor John C. McGinley ("Scrubs") and former UFC fighter Kyle Kingsbury. Shot on site in scenic Malibu, Calif., the program (which premieres on January 24, 8PM ET) follows participants as they adhere to the challenging XPT training regimen, breaking through to new levels of fitness, health and experience an increased quality of life.
"We've been hosting XPT Experiences for a number of years now and are extremely pleased with how it has grown. To partner with Outside TV allows us to tell the XPT story to a much larger audience," said Laird and Gabby collectively. "Our ultimate goal is to create the largest community possible where we learn, share, teach and all help each other be better."
Created by Go Wild Productions for Outside TV is "Over the Horizon," also new this season. Premiering Summer 2017, "Over The Horizon" features New Zealand-based professional diver and adventurer Ellis Emmett on the expedition of a lifetime: a circumnavigation of our planet by sail. During the occasionally harrowing journey, Emmett explores some of the most amazing and remote corners of our world seeking out adventures in these far-off lands.
"It is tremendously satisfying to share our stories on a network whose primary focus is adventure," says Craig McGillivray, Breakthrough Entertainment. "It's a great fit and we look forward to providing Outside TV viewers with inspiring and exciting content."
Returning Exclusive Original Programming
The Network's "In Search of Speed," the behind-the-scenes show that chronicles the men's and women's U.S. Ski Teams as they prepare & compete during the 2016-2017 World Cup season, is returning for a second season. Viewers will have an inside look at how these elite athletes train, study, build relationships with one another and their coaches – living life both on and off the hill. This season, airing new episodes on Thursday nights at 9PM ET, will feature top accomplished professional skiers Lindsey Vonn, Mikaela Shiffrin and Ted Ligety, among others.
In conjunction with Outside Magazine's 40th anniversary, Outside TV is presenting a special season of their marquee show "Outlook: Icons Revealed." Season Four will showcase six athletes also being featured in the magazine's stories throughout the course of the year, highlighting action and adventure sports athletes including: Jimmy Chin (January 15th premiere), Jeb Corliss (March 19th premiere), Melissa Arnott (May), and Alex Honnold (July).
Hosted by Chris Davenport, the newsmagazine format show "Dispatches" (Season 7) premieres Jan 23, exploring human stories as unique as a marathoner traversing 40 of world's deserts and the first person to combine skydiving and surfing...all in one jump. This season Dispatches includes three episodes in a new format: a full hour devoted to a single story, specifically a journey through Cuba (Jan 30) exploring how local athletes have adopted and progressed the sports they love despite limited resources and government restrictions; climbing aboard Chris Fischer's at-sea laboratory OCEARCH (February 13) exploring the cutting-edge technology they have developed to track and log previously unattainable data on precious marine life; and spend time with the inspiring Colin Brady (March 13), a former college athlete who was struck by tremendous tragedy but despite the loss of both of his legs conquered the highest points on each of Earth's seven continents.
