Outright Releases Top Sales Days for the Holiday Season
Outright.com Data Shows a Strong Increase for Small Businesses this Holiday Season
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Dec. 22, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Outright, a popular online accounting solution for small businesses, has found that sole proprietors are showing strong sales numbers for the holiday season. Aggregated data from a sampling of small businesses selling on the major eCommerce sites uncovered a surprise: Green Monday, the second Monday in December known for large online retail sales, was not in the top three of largest online sales day this holiday season.
As Outright reported earlier this month, small online sellers saw an average increase in sales over last year of 68% for Cyber Monday while Tuesday, November 29th, and Wednesday, November 30th almost matched Cyber Monday's volume. All three of these days beat out sales numbers for Green Monday (December 12) and Free Shipping Day (December 16). Green Monday is often considered to be one the largest online sales days, yet it only ranked 4th in sales for online businesses. Offline small businesses also did well, with December 5th being the largest day of sales for those businesses, even beating Black Friday and Small Business Saturday. Overall, Black Friday did not even make the top five days of holiday sales and Small Business Saturday did not make the top ten.
"Outright is thrilled to see that the smallest of the small businesses are thriving this holiday season," said Steven Aldrich, CEO of Outright. "These small businesses drive the country's economy. A win for them is certainly a win for all of us. We save small business owners hours of effort to account for those incremental sales by taking care of the seamless integration of that data."
The aggregated data is from a random sample of 10,000 of Outright's small business customers who are sole proprietors from all sectors of the economy – everything from designers to dog walkers to consultants. Online sellers were defined as sole proprietors who primarily sell on eBay, Etsy, or Amazon.
