Outland Energy Services Secures Key Certifications
Becomes First Independent Services Provider in North American Wind Industry to Secure ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2004, and OHSAS 18001:2007 Certifications
CANBY, Minn., Jan. 3, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Outland Energy Services announced today that it has secured two globally-recognized certifications: ISO 14001:2004 for environmental management and OHSAS 18001:2007 for occupational health and safety management.
Outland had previously secured the ISO 9001:2008 quality management certification, and therefore is the first independent services provider (ISP) in the North American wind industry to achieve all three certifications. Founded in 2005, today Outland has 125 technicians who commission, operate and maintain wind farms across the United States, including more than 900 MW of turbines under long-term services agreements.
To achieve these globally-recognized certifications, Outland had to demonstrate to an accredited independent auditor (the National Standards Authority of Ireland) that it tracks the quality, health, safety, and environmental impacts of its business and continuously works to improve its performance in those areas.
"By securing these certifications, Outland has shown its commitment to providing high-quality services to our customers, keeping our technicians safe and healthy, and minimizing our impact on the environment," said Outland President & COO Steve Scott. "By securing them before any other North American wind energy ISP, Outland has demonstrated its commitment to being an industry leader."
Added Brian Arndt, Outland's Director of EHS and Quality, "These complimentary certifications show that Outland uses an integrated management system to manage the quality, health, safety, and environmental impacts of our business. Our processes for measuring and improving our performance in these areas fit seamlessly with our delivery of services to our customers."
Many have noticed Outland's achievement. As Mark Willers, CEO of Minnesota-based Minwind Energy, LLC, said, "The long-term guidance Outland's management team has demonstrated again by securing additional certifications is of tremendous value for Outland, its employees and its customers. As the receiver of services, Minwind realizes better kept, sound, well-operated equipment. This result leads to both solid operation and reduced liability concern. I commend Outland management for its commitment to quality and safety. Congratulations, Outland, on being a leader in the industry!"
Outland also announced today that it has changed its name from Outland Renewable Energy to Outland Energy Services. Commenting on the significance of the name change, Steve Scott said, "The modification from 'Renewable Energy' to 'Energy Services' more clearly articulates who we are and aligns our name with our mission of supporting the North American wind industry as a trusted and respected technical services provider."
