TAMPA, Fla., June 20, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Outback Steakhouse has a rich history of supporting military service members and their families. This Sunday at Sonoma Raceway, with Kevin Harvick piloting a special patriotic-themed No. 4 Outback Steakhouse Chevrolet, Outback will launch a new partnership with the Folds of Honor Foundation.
Founded in 2007 by Maj. Dan Rooney, the Folds of Honor Foundation gives back to spouses and children of soldiers fallen or disabled in service to our country. With this partnership, Outback Steakhouse will support the Folds of Honor Foundation's mission of providing scholarships and assistance to families left behind in the fight to preserve American freedom.
"Folds of Honor is a great organization," said Harvick. "Maj. Dan is one of those people who, when you talk to him, you feel better about yourself afterward. What they do for families and the scholarships they hand out are absolutely amazing. To see Outback Steakhouse jump on board to support Folds of Honor is going to be fun to be a part of."
For more than 20 years, Outback Steakhouse has been supporting military service members and their families whether feeding troops actively serving abroad or feeding heroes as they returned home. Additionally, Outback Steakhouse has donated nearly $3 million supporting military families as service members transitioned out of active duty by providing food assistance, auto and home repair, vision care, travel and transportation, moving assistance, essential home items and financial assistance.
"Outback Steakhouse is proud to serve those who have served America," said Jeff Smith, President of Outback Steakhouse. "We're excited to launch our relationship with Folds of Honor with the special paint scheme in Sonoma."
This is the first year that Outback Steakhouse is partnering with the Folds of Honor Foundation.
