Otis Jones Re-elected to Georgia Transmission Corporation Board
TUCKER, Ga., April 5, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Otis P. Jones of Lawrenceville, Ga. was recently re-elected as secretary-treasurer on the Georgia Transmission Corporation (GTC) Board of Directors. Jones has served on the board since 2008. He also serves as vice chairman of the board for Jackson Electric Membership Corporation (EMC).
During Jones' eight-year tenure, GTC has:
- Built more than 1,200 projects, including 225 miles of transmission lines, 65 substations and its first solar generation interconnections;
- Consistently improved reliability and achieved record low numbers for both frequency and duration of outages;
- Earned two "best place to work" designations from Georgia Trend magazine and one from the Atlanta Business Chronicle; and
- Committed no violations of federal mandatory reliability standards.
"Through 2018, GTC plans to invest more than $560 million in our transmission system to fortify the electric power grid and ensure reliability," said Jones. The GTC Board of Directors elected directors at its 2016 annual meeting of members and elected officers at its board meeting, both held recently in Atlanta, Ga. Also elected as GTC officers for one-year terms were Charles R. Fendley, chairman of the board, and Steve E. Rawl, Sr., vice chairman of the board. Fendley is a GTC member director and is chairman of the board of Amicalola EMC. Rawl is a GTC member director and is first vice president of Okefenoke Rural Electric Membership Corporation (REMC).
