Ossia Wins 2013 Chevrolet Driving Ingenuity Award
World's largest automotive brand selects Ossia's Cota wireless charging technology for prestigious award honoring innovation
REDMOND, Wash., Oct. 7, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Ossia, Inc. (www.ossiainc.com), the company behind the groundbreaking Cota wireless charging technology, today announced that it has been selected by Chevrolet as the winner of the prestigious Chevrolet Driving Ingenuity Award. Presented at TechCrunch Disrupt San Francisco 2013, the Chevrolet Driving Ingenuity Award and the award prize of $10,000 was presented to Ossia for its Cota technology, the first commercially viable remote wireless charging system, which redefines wireless power by automatically delivering targeted energy to multiple devices from as far away as 30 feet, without requiring line of sight.
Chevrolet, the world's fastest-growing major automotive brand, presents the Driving Ingenuity Award to companies on the forefront of innovative technologies. The award stems from the company's "Find New Roads" brand promise, which embraces the spirit of ingenuity that has been part of Chevrolet's DNA since the beginning.
The award was presented at TechCrunch Disrupt 2013, where more than 500 companies from around the world applied to launch onstage in front of more than 2,000 venture capitalists, journalists, industry influencers, technology innovators and enthusiasts. From the 500 applicants, 30 companies were selected to present at the event and based on those presentations and the strength of each company's technology, innovation, and vision; Chevrolet selected Ossia as its award winner.
"The Chevrolet Driving Ingenuity Award is a gratifying validation for the incredible Cota technology that we have worked so hard to develop over the past six years," said Hatem Zeine, CEO and Founder of Ossia Inc. "The entire Ossia team deserves recognition for not only the major technical achievement of Cota, which is game changing for the wireless power space, but also for the tireless effort it took to get this technology ready for its public launch. We feel this is just the beginning!"
Ossia's patented smart antenna technology uses phased arrays to transfer power without the use of inductive coils, ultrasonic waves, magnetic resonance, charging pads or mats. The Cota technology safely delivers targeted energy to multiple devices, even as they move around, allowing people to wirelessly charge a wide variety of devices including cell phones, remote controls, cameras, video game controllers, flashlights, smoke detectors and more.
