Ossia and KDDI Team Up to Jumpstart The Wireless Power Technology Revolution

BELLEVUE, Wash., Dec. 22, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Ossia, Inc. the company behind the Cota® remote wireless charging technology, today announced that it has partnered with KDDI, a major Japanese telecommunications company with 40 million customers, to deliver the benefits of remote wireless power technology. KDDI quickly recognized Cota's potential and became an early investor in Ossia via the KDDI Open Innovation Fund. Since then, KDDI has worked closely with Ossia to engineer new products and solutions that will help usher in the wireless power technology revolution. With this groundbreaking technology, Ossia is redefining wireless power by safely delivering targeted energy to automatically recharge devices. The Cota transmitter serves as a hub, providing power and data to smaller devices such as smartphones, smart locks, remote controls and more. What makes Cota technology unique is that it is capable of charging mobile and battery-powered devices automatically, without users plugging them in or placing them on a charging pad. That means the devices are always powered up and ready to use. The technology functions similarly to how WiFi transmitters deliver data to devices. Cota safely transmits energy around corners and over obstacles without requiring a direct line of sight, similarly to how WiFi routers push data to devices.
