PEORIA, Ill., Oct. 2, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Becker's Hospital Review, the leading magazine for hospital news and analysis, announced today OSF Innovation is on the 2017 list of 58 Hospitals and Health Systems with Innovation Programs. Launched in 2016, OSF Innovation is a multidisciplinary center and program focused on internal and external innovation to re-invent the health care delivery system of the future.
According to Becker's, the hospitals and health systems featured have committed to innovation with dedicated centers and departments. Research and development from these programs range from technical—including medical devices, diagnostics and mobile health platforms—to clinical workflows, payment models and process improvements. Some have also established commercial arms and technology transfer offices addressing some of the most complex challenges facing patient care and delivery.
"It is an honor to be recognized for our dedication to transform health care into value for the patients and communities we serve," said Kevin Schoeplein, CEO of OSF HealthCare. "As we continue to build a culture of innovation throughout our health care Ministry, we aim to come up with solutions that will ensure health care outcomes and access are no longer based on how much money a patients has, their age or their distance to a health care facility."
OSF HealthCare was also ranked as having one of the top 10 innovation centers in the U.S. earlier this year by Modern Healthcare, a leader in health care business news, research and data.
OSF Innovation employs a variety of approaches to innovation such as improving processes and functions to serve patients; mentoring, networking and partnering with external companies working on solutions to health care problems; investing in start-ups through OSF Ventures; and developing and testing internal and external ideas that could revolutionize how health care is delivered.
