COLUMBIA, Mo., Dec. 19, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Arizona-based OrthoArizona will expand its use of OBERD's patient-reported data collection technology to streamline patient intake workflow. By automating the release of patient intake questionnaires prior to the patient's appointment, OrthoArizona will reduce clinic bottlenecks by collecting data outside of the clinic. Automated form assignment means OrthoArizona's clinic staff are no longer required to administer paper forms and manually key patient intake data into the EMR. Once medical history, review of systems, registration, and other intake data is collected into OBERD, that data is discretely sent to the patient's chart in OrthoArizona's EMR system, real-time. By the time the patient arrives for their appointment, all of their important medical history data has been pre-populated into their chart.
OrthoArizona currently collects patient-reported Outcomes data, satisfaction data, and MIPS quality data using OBERD. By incorporating clinical intake data collection into its OBERD configuration, OrthoArizona is aligning with a single vendor for robust, 360-degree patient-facing data collection capability. By integrating with existing OrthoArizona systems, OBERD automates all patient-reported data collection processes, enabling OrthoArizona to gain significant efficiencies and insights.
"I have been giving all surgical patients outcomes forms pre-op. OBERD automatically emails patients the same surveys at intervals (3 mo, 6 mo, 1 year, 2 year, etc.). The surveys take 5-10 minutes total and even older non-tech savvy patients find them easy. With this system, it does not add any time at all to clinic visits. All surveys are completed outside of clinic," said David Jaffee M.D., Foot and Ankle Surgeon, OrthoArizona. "OBERD will provide me with valuable data for research from a large number of patients, with almost no additional work. OBERD is an essential tool as outcomes becomes standard of care."
OBERD's patient engagement systems will allow OrthoArizona to shift the task of data gathering directly to the patient, freeing up valuable in-clinic time and resources. OBERD's intuitive form design ensures that a large majority of patients fill their forms before presenting for their appointment, which increases patient satisfaction, streamlines clinic workflow, and reduces wait times.
"We are delighted that OrthoArizona has expanded its use of the OBERD platform into its clinical workflow," said Andrew Clement, OBERD's Chief Commercial Officer. "We appreciate that OrthoArizona's deployment of our system will enable them to capture actionable data that advances their ability to provide the best care for their patients."
OrthoArizona's expressed interest in shared protocols matches the efforts of OBERD to accelerate usage of consensus-recommended surveys to build robust datasets. OBERD's data collection aligns with the standards as offered by AAOS, ICHOM and PROMIS.
