WEST PALM BEACH, Fla., May 9, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Origins Behavioral HealthCare today announced it has been acquired by TRT Holdings, Inc., a diversified private holding company owned by the Rowling family of Dallas that owns other successful brands, including Omni Hotels & Resorts and Gold's Gym. This major acquisition in the substance use disorder treatment industry will mean more robust treatment options for people struggling with addiction. Origins currently offers age- and gender-specific residential treatment centers in West Palm Beach and Vero Beach, Florida and South Padre Island, Texas. Origins will continue operating its programs in Florida and Texas, while expanding its presence elsewhere.
"As an organization that has for 35 years been dedicated to helping individuals and families with life-changing recovery from substance use disorder, we are overjoyed with the prospect of pursuing our mission on a much larger scale with the backing of TRT Holdings and the Rowling family's commitment to substance use disorder treatment," said Drew Rothermel, Origins President and Chief Executive Officer. "We have found the right partner at the right time to build on the success of our nationally renowned substance use disorder treatment, bolstering and enhancing our programming in the best long-term interests of our patients and their families."
Founded in 2009 by the Levenson Family, Origins has grown to become one of the nation's best known brands in residential substance use disorder treatment. The company acquired West Palm Beach-based Hanley Center in December 2014, aligning two of the best treatment companies in the country into a single, powerful stand-out brand in the recovery industry. The family will remain supportive of behavioral health through the Levenson Foundation and MAP Health Management.
The Origins acquisition complements other TRT Holding operations, including Gaston House, a substance use disorder transitional living facility in Dallas that will be phased in to the Origins portfolio over time. Additionally, with the support of TRT Holdings, Origins plans to expand its reach into new markets around the country. Together the organizations will identify additional strategic acquisitions to augment current facilities and locations, and will also seek ways to continue building on Origins clinical model while pioneering measurements for tracking recovery outcomes and success.
"Substance use disorders have reached epidemic proportions in our country and my family and I are personally committed to helping those who struggle with substance abuse," said Robert Rowling Jr. "For some time, TRT has sought to broaden our reach in this area by joining with a best-in-class organization specializing in substance use disorder treatment. This is a historically fragmented industry and our partnership with Origins will help extend the resources available to address the growing needs of the millions of Americans struggling with substance abuse issues."
TRT Holdings is a multi-billion-dollar diversified private holding company whose largest investments currently include Omni Hotels & Resorts, Gold's Gym and Tana Exploration, in addition to select public, real estate and other investments.
