ORIG3N™ Joins The Alliance For Regenerative Medicine
The Boston-Based Biotech Pioneer Becomes the Latest Member of the World's Top Advocacy Group for Regenerative and Advanced Therapies
BOSTON, Feb. 1, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- ORIG3N, a biotechnology company based in Boston that is leading a transformation in the understanding and treatment of rare, genetically inherited diseases, has joined the Alliance for Regenerative Medicine (ARM).
Among its novel approaches to regenerative medicine, ORIG3N has established the world's largest uniformly consented cell repository, called LifeCapsule, to better understand the cellular and molecular foundations of disease. With those cells, scientists create induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), which can become any cell type in the body and be used for disease modeling and drug development.
ARM promotes initiatives (including legislative, regulatory, reimbursement, investment and technical) to speed the development of safe, effective regenerative medicine technologies. It also aims to help people understand more about this area of medicine, which creates living, working tissues to repair or replace tissue or organs that no longer function because of age, disease, congenital defects or other damage. The organization's 225-plus members include regenerative medicine companies and investors, university-based and nonprofit research institutions, patient advocacy groups, pharmaceutical companies and more.
"We are honored to become part of this distinguished community that is helping to change the face of medicine," said ORIG3N Chief Business Officer James Lovgren. "Our team is eager to collaborate with ARM's highly regarded members and to contribute our expertise in order to secure legislation and research funding that will continue to advance our field and the lives of people worldwide. We are completely dedicated to regenerative medicine and the transformations it is fostering."
