BEND, Ore., April 20, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Oregrown Industries, Oregon's premier farm-to-table cannabis company, has signed freerider mountain bike athlete Kyle Jameson and will sponsor the 2017 FEST Black Sage event in Central Oregon on April 22.
"Mountain biking has been a passion of mine since I was 19, so I am beyond stoked that Oregrown can support athletes like Kyle and events like the FEST series," said Oregrown co-owner Hunter Neubauer. "I went to the FEST riders' house this week, and I met all the guys I've been looking up to for years."
The FEST is a series of rider-driven invitational events created by and for professional freerider mountain bike athletes and moto riders. Each series event lasts for ten days, but in keeping with the spirit of riders riding for riders, only one day is open to the public. The public day for this year's Black Sage event will be Saturday, April 22 at the Oregon Dirt Park at 12600 Juniper Canyon Road near Prineville.
"The FEST Series embodies a spirit of bikers coming together to watch, encourage, ride for, and hang out with each other without being pressured by big corporations to play to the cameras," Neubauer said. "It's the anti-competition competition with the best freeriders in the world."
Oregrown's sponsorship will help raise awareness of the benefits cannabis can add to a healthy, active lifestyle. Rider Kyle Jameson said cannabis-based topical creams, in particular, have made a difference for him.
"As an athlete, I see sore muscles on the daily," Jameson said. "I used to use ibuprofen for everything, but THC and CBD topical creams have taken prescription and over-the-counter drugs out of my life. Cannabis topicals help me heal up so I'm ready to rock and roll the next day."
Neubauer said Oregrown's sponsorship of athletes and events like the FEST series are a measure of how far public understanding of cannabis has come in recent years.
"It's incredibly refreshing that we can finally talk publicly about what athletes have known for years," Neubauer said. "Simply put, cannabis adds value to active lives."
