Oregon Startup Lora DiCarlo Raises $1.1 Million For Revolutionary New Sex Tech Product
BEND, Ore., Nov. 16, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Lora DiCarlo, the disruptive new brand known for engineering pleasure tech products that will revolutionize female sexual health, is pleased to announce it has raised $1.1 million in research, engineering, and product development funding from the Oregon Opportunity Zone Limited Partnership ("OOZLP").
After three years of research and design based on anatomical data from hundreds of women, as well the physiological analysis of female orgasms, Lora DiCarlo's founder and CEO, Lora Haddock, realized that a hands-free blended orgasm pleasure tech product would require use of new technology that had only recently become available. To achieve that goal, Lora DiCarlo raised seed funding for an industry-sponsored research and engineering partnership with the Oregon State University College of Engineering, one of the nation's four leading robotics laboratories.
The result is Osé, a microrobotic sexual stimulator for hands-free blended orgasms. Working in partnership with Oregon State University researchers, the predominantly female engineering team at Lora DiCarlo used biomimicry to translate human mouth, tongue, and finger-like haptics into microrobotic mechanisms that feel like a human partner. Osé adjusts to each woman's unique physiology for a personal fit that makes achieving the elusive blended orgasm easy.
The funding from OOZLP will support product development, intellectual property protection, and a full unveiling of Osé at the Consumer Electronics Show in January 2019.
"It has been a long-time dream of mine to empower folks to explore their individual sexual identities and to offer a disruptive product like Osé to the market; a product that finally addresses our physiology as well as the positive changes in the societal view on sexuality and gender," said Haddock. "I'm extremely grateful for the funding (from OOZLP) as it will allow us to hire the finest engineering and marketing talent possible to make Osé commercially viable."
"Society is changing to accept a broader discussion about sexual health, leading to explosive growth for sex tech products in the consumer market," said Douglas Layman, General Partner for OOZLP. "Through the right combination of female anatomical knowledge, cutting-edge robotic miniaturization, and biomimetic hands-free stimulation, Lora DiCarlo can capture rapid market growth in the near future."
"Working on a product that celebrates people's sexual health has been an incredibly fulfilling and exciting engineering problem," said Dr. Ada-Rhodes Short, Senior Design Engineer. "Our engineering team is on the cutting edge of robotic pleasure tech--we have already filed five patents and we are well positioned to become the universal physical interface for women, trans men, genderqueer and non-conforming people with vaginas engaging in virtual reality sex. We are creating something truly breathtaking and new at Lora DiCarlo and we are so excited to share it with the world."
Starting with Osé, Lora DiCarlo intends to disrupt this traditionally male-dominated industry, raising the bar to introduce the next level of pleasure tech.
