Oregon Bankers Association Inducts Hal Brown into Hall of Fame
SALEM, Ore., July 19, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Oregon Bankers Association (OBA) inducted Hal Brown, chief executive officer of Pacific Continental Bank, into the Oregon Bankers Hall of Fame during its Annual Convention held in Sunriver, Oregon last week. The Oregon Bankers Hall of Fame is the highest honor bestowed peer-to-peer on Oregon bankers and recognizes the outstanding contributions they've made to the Oregon banking industry and the communities they serve.
Brown has served as CEO of Pacific Continental Bank for 11 years and has been employed with the bank since 1985. Under Brown's leadership and direction, Pacific Continental has grown to be a $1.3 billion publicly traded company headquartered in Eugene, Ore. In addition to the numerous public accolades and awards given to the bank over the past decade, Brown was named as the financial industry's 2012 CEO of the Year by the Portland Business Journal.
Linda Navarro, president and CEO of the Oregon Bankers Association, stated, "The Oregon Bankers Association is proud to welcome Hal Brown into the Hall of Fame. He is an exemplary leader in the banking industry and is respected for his strong sense of ethics and community."
Brown's commitment to the community is evidenced by Pacific Continental's corporate giving program, which empowers employees to make a personal difference in their community. In 2012, bank employees donated more than 5,000 hours to more than 240 nonprofit organizations. Brown currently serves as board member and Audit Committee Chair for PacificSource Health Plans and as a board member of Angle, LLC, which develops mobile device applications for the sight-impaired. He previously served on the boards for ShelterCare and the United Way of Lane County and mentored two students at Northwest Christian University who graduated this year.
Brown was elected to the Oregon Bankers Association board in 2008, and has been an avid supporter of the organization.
Since its creation in 1987, the Oregon Bankers Hall of Fame has inducted 73 individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the Oregon banking community and communities where they live and work.
