Retired Brigadier General, John Robert Ranck joins the global fight against avoidable blindness
NEW YORK, Feb. 29, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Orbis announces the appointment of John Robert "Bob" Ranck as President and Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately. Orbis, a leading global non-governmental organization, has been a pioneer in the prevention and treatment of blindness for over 30 years and his leadership will guide the organization into the future.
Ranck, a retired United States Airforce Brigadier General, comes to Orbis with more than 30 years of experience as a strategist, leader and manager in a career that spans across military, manufacturing and small business sectors.

Prior to joining Orbis, Ranck was Senior Vice President of Government Programs & Sales at Gulfstream Aerospace, where he significantly grew government programs revenue and expanded long-term pursuits in the Middle East, North Africa, Japan and India. At Integrated Systems Solutions (ISS), a Service-Disabled, Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), he improved processes discipline and proposal quality.
As a military chief executive in the United States Air Force, he led military units in domestic and international flying operations, spearheaded emergency relief in the third world and the U.S., engaged in public relations/advocacy efforts and championed change management activities. Ranck is also a pilot and is qualified to fly the KC-10, a variant of the DC-10 aircraft that houses the current Orbis Flying Eye Hospital. After completing his training at the USAF Academy, he obtained a Master's Degree in Public Administration from Golden Gate University and a Master's Degree in National Security Strategy from the National War College.
