NEW YORK, Sept.19, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Orbis, a leading global non-governmental organization (NGO) that works to eliminate avoidable blindness, hosted global sponsor OMEGA for a visit to the Flying Eye Hospital (FEH) program in Trujillo, Peru. As part of the OMEGA visit, Cindy Crawford, long-time brand ambassador to OMEGA, spent a day onboard the Flying Eye Hospital, where Cindy was able to experience Orbis's work first-hand.

While visiting the FEH program, Cindy had the opportunity to visit Orbis local partner, the Instituto Regional de Oftalmologia (IRO), the hospital with which Orbis is working to train the local eye health community as part of a two-week intensive ophthalmic training program. Cindy observed the Orbis team of medical professionals and volunteers in action as they trained local eye health professionals with the goal of eliminating avoidable blindness. As part of Cindy's visit to the program, she spent time with and spoke to several young patients who had received treatment for their visual impairments.

OMEGA and Orbis
The partnership between Orbis International and OMEGA began with the documentary Through Their Eyes in 2012 and has included a number of events that have highlighted Orbis's goals and accomplishments.
