Five Star Professional conducts research to help consumers select professional services assistance. The Five Star award is presented to wealth managers, real estate agents, mortgage professionals and other service professionals in more than 45 markets in the U.S. and Canada. Five Star Professional's Methodology
Five Star Professional partners with Chicago magazine to conduct research to identify certified public accountants who provide their clients with exceptional services. The program accepts nominations from clients, peers and firms; self-nominations are not accepted. Nominations are compiled and candidates are evaluated using ten objective criteria. To be eligible for the award, the individual must be a credentialed Certified Public Accountant (CPA); be actively employed in the accounting services industry for a minimum of five years; have a favorable regulatory and complaint history review; be accepting new clients; and spend more than 50% of his or her time on taxation or other accounting services. The considered evaluation criteria includes the candidate's one-year client retention rate; five-year client retention rate; number of clients served total; one-year billing realization rate; and educational and professional designations/certifications.
