Orazul Energy appoints Willem Van Twembeke as Chief Executive Officer
HOUSTON, Aug. 7, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Orazul Energy ("Orazul" or "the Company"), a leading power producer with thermal, hydroelectric, and natural gas facilities throughout Latin America, and portfolio company of global infrastructure investment management firm, I Squared Capital ("the Firm"), today announced the appointment of its Chief Executive Officer ("CEO").
The Orazul Board of Directors has named Willem Van Twembeke its CEO. Van Twembeke is Orazul's first CEO since the Firm's acquisition of regional facilities (ex-Brazil) from Duke Energy International. As part of his role, Van Twembeke will partner closely with the regional presidents of Orazul's operations.

Van Twembeke joins Orazul following a 25-year tenure at Tractebel and various companies within the ENGIE Group, where he played a key role in developing the company's global footprint, including substantial work in Latin America. As CEO of EnerSur and Calidda, he reengineered both Peruvian companies, transforming them into significant players in the local energy market. As COO of ENGIE Energy Latin America, he contributed to building the company into a first-tier competitor in the region. Most recently, he served as Executive Vice President of ENGIE's Energy International Business Line managing international operations in several regions and leading business development.
Among other degrees, Van Twembeke holds a Master of Business Administration (1992 to 1994) from the Catholic University of Louvain, Belgium; a Master of Engineering (1988 to 1990) in Nuclear Science from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, New York, USA; and a Master of Science in Electromechanical Engineering (1983 to 1988) in Power Electricity from the Catholic University of Louvain.
