Orange County Addiction Rehab Opens Nation's First Surf Camp For People In Recovery

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., Sept. 17, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Morningside Recovery of Orange County, California, has created the nation's first substance abuse and mental health recovery surf camp. Swell Life combines the healing powers of holistic therapy and the ocean to create a unique and inviting program for the recovery community.

Swell Life is open and free to the recovery community every third Sunday of the month. The September 21^st camp will take place at 1:30 PM, starting with a classroom learning session at the Clint Carroll Surf School, and then proceeding directly down to the waves in Huntington Beach, California.

Morningside Recovery holds closed Swell Life surfing camps for drug and alcohol rehab clients who are in the earlier stages of their addiction recovery program. This intimate and healing surfing lesson helps them develop self-confidence, promotes an active lifestyle, and ultimately learn how to have fun in sobriety while enjoying the therapeutic aura of the ocean.

In partnership with the Clint Carroll Surf School, surf instructor Clint Carroll knows firsthand how surfing is a powerful outlet for a healthier change for people struggling with addiction.
