Opscode Expands Operations Into International Markets
Launches Operations in EMEA with Nearly 50 European Commercial Customers
Launches Operations in Japan, Partnering with Leading IT Services Provider Creationline to Distribute Private Chef™ and Support Enterprise Customers
SEATTLE, Oct. 4, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Opscode®, the leader in cloud infrastructure automation, today announced the launch of international operations in Europe and Japan to meet rapidly growing demand for infrastructure automation in the cloud and the enterprise data center worldwide.
According to IDC's most recent "Worldwide Cloud Systems Management Software Forecast" (2012-2016), this emerging market, which represents portions of the change and configuration, workload scheduling and automation, performance management, event management, and problem management functional markets, will exceed $3.1 billion worldwide in 2016. The IDC report states: "The worldwide cloud systems management software market continues to expand faster than most other software markets. IDC expects cloud adoption will follow a similar track seen during the rollout of virtualization where several years of experimentation were followed by years of rapid adoption."[i]
"IDC's research indicates that increasing numbers of enterprises are piloting and planning for private and hybrid cloud operations. As the scope and scale of cloud environments increases, these organizations are finding that standardization and automation are critical success factors," commented Mary Johnston Turner, IDC Research Vice President, Enterprise Systems Management Software.
"As worldwide adoption of cloud computing increases, it is critical that we solve for the skills and tools gap created by the rapid and unabated proliferation of IT complexity," said Mitch Hill, CEO, Opscode. "Opscode Chef bridges that gap by enabling IT with the tools and skills necessary to effectively build and manage next-generation IT infrastructure. With today's launch of operations in EMEA and Japan, Opscode is well-positioned with experienced personnel and partners to capitalize on the market opportunity ahead."
