OPEX Releases New Rapid Extraction Desk with Milling Cutter Technology
MOORESTOWN, N.J., May 10 /PRNewswire/ -- OPEX Corporation announced the release of the OPEX Model 72, the next generation Rapid Extraction Desk (RED). It features an all-new feeder, milling cutter, and auto-jog transport – making it the most efficient way for one operator to open and extract a wide range of incoming mail.
The Model 72 marks the first time that milling cutting technology has been offered on an OPEX Rapid Extraction Desk. This option is being made available in addition to OPEX's traditional, and highly regarded, slicing technology.
Milling cutting is useful in applications that include thick and over-stuffed envelopes. It offers a smaller cut depth which significantly reduces the potential of cutting contents. This makes it the perfect complement to the Model 72 RED, which is designed to handle the entire range of mail, including items that were previously difficult to process on an extraction desk like multi-page forms, tax documents and other similar, thicker envelopes.
"The Model 72 is a substantial advancement of the proven OPEX design for efficient mail opening and extraction," said Mark Stevens, President and CEO of OPEX Corporation. "OPEX Rapid Extraction Desks have been appreciated for their intuitive and operator-friendly capabilities for years, and the Model 72 takes these benefits to the next level. Advancements in cutting technology and feeder design are the latest innovations in a product line that has been leading the industry for more than three decades."
The all-new feeder is fine-tuned for unmatched performance and gives the Model 72 the ability to handle intermixed envelopes of various thicknesses (up to 0.375") with ease. The machine has been engineered to automatically adapt to varying envelopes and reliably transport them through the track, all without operator intervention. In addition, the entire envelope path has been optimized to accommodate irregular envelopes.
Innovative features like the auto-jog transport shifts contents away from both cut edges to achieve a new level of content protection. All of this results in a better ability to process virtually all incoming envelopes with decreased down-time, higher quality, and greater overall throughput.
Other new features include enhanced ergonomics, an optimized mail tray, and 20% more desk space.
The Model 72 Rapid Extraction Desk's technology offers efficient, secure, and reliable mixed envelope opening and extraction. When integrated with the new OPEX AS7200 scanner, the operator can open envelopes, extract contents, and scan everything in one step, on one platform, with little or no prep. Combined, the Model 72 and AS7200 provide the world's only single-step out-of-the-envelope document processing platform.
The Model 72 made its public debut today at the Fusion Forum and Expo, held at the Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center in Grapevine, TX.
