TULSA, Okla., July 16, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Oil Sands and Heavy Oil Technologies Conference returning to Calgary next week for the sixth straight year, July 24-26, is seeing strong support from operating companies. Suncor Energy and ConocoPhillips have both signed up for the event's Operator Partner Program allowing them to send unlimited employees to attend for one set fee.

The conference program has a number of operator presenters including those from Syncrude Canada, Petrobank Energy and Resources, CNRL and Shell Canada. The Closing Session will include important oil sands project updates by operating companies ConocoPhillips, Alberta Oilsands, Dover, Petrobank and Suncor Energy. Three of the conference advisory board members are also from operating companies.

The event kicks off on July 24 with specialty forums covering dicey issues in sulphur and Heavy Oil 101 presented by the Canadian Heavy Oil Association (CHOA). The keynote session will follow the specialty forums and inaugurate the main technical conference running July 25-26.
Technical subjects include new developments in methods for extracting highly viscous oil, processing bitumen, generating steam for underground injection, managing water, remediating environmental impacts, operating facilities, and others.
The keynote session begins on Wednesday, July 25 with Dr. Xingyi Wang, the President of SORESCO Refinery (JV of CNODC and RECOPE) in Costa Rica and the Deputy Chief Engineer of Refining and Chemical Department at the China National Oil and Gas Exploration and Development Corporation (CNODC); Terry Abel, the Executive Manager of the Oil Sands and Coal Branch at the Alberta Energy Resources Conservation Board and Eddy Isaacs, CEO of Alberta Innovates - Energy & Environment Solutions (AI-EES). The session will cover the high-interest issues of regulation, markets, and technology.
