Operation Smile Honors Brooke Burke-Charvet and David Charvet, Jill Grey, Sanuk, Julia and Stephanie Argyros, Krista Jajonie and Daneia Sanadiki at 30th Anniversary Smile Gala
LOS ANGELES, Sept. 25, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Operation Smile, an international children's medical charity, will honor Brooke Burke-Charvet and David Charvet at its 30th Anniversary Smile Gala on September 28, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Philanthropist Jill Grey, footwear company Sanuk, humanitarians Julia and Stephanie Argyros, Krista Jajonie and Daneia Sanadiki will also be honored for helping children in need worldwide. Operation Smile provides free surgery for children worldwide suffering from facial deformities. Every three minutes, a child is born with a cleft. One in 10 of those children will die before their first birthday.
Operation Smile presents its Universal Smile Award to Smile Ambassadors Brooke Burke-Charvet and David Charvet. Brooke is a successful host, actress, dancer and entrepreneur and co-host of ABC's hit show Dancing With The Stars. David Charvet built his international fan base through roles on Baywatch and Melrose Place and then as a major pop star, scoring hits in English and French.
Philanthropists Julia and Stephanie Argyros, Krista Jajonie and Daneia Sanadiki will receive the Founders Circle Award. To teach their children a sense of philanthropy and give them a greater sense of global awareness, these moms have spearheaded fundraising efforts since 2011 to fundraise for children worldwide suffering from cleft lips and cleft palates.
Philanthropist Jill Grey will receive the Wallis Annenberg Award for Public Service. Grey volunteered on two Operation Smile medical missions in Fortaleza, Brazil and Chiapas, Mexico.
The Corporate Humanitarian Award will be presented to Sanuk, a division of Deckers Outdoor Corporation. Sanuk also joined Operation Smile on a medical mission in Lima, Peru in May and is supporting Operation Smile through the sale of "Smile...Pass It On!" wristbands on their website (www.sanuk.com).
