Operation Homefront Receives Fourth Consecutive Four-Star Rating From Charity Navigator
SAN ANTONIO, Feb. 10, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Operation Homefront, the national non-profit that provides emergency financial and other assistance to military families and wounded warriors, announced today that it has earned its fourth consecutive 4-star rating from Charity Navigator. This is the top rating awarded by the charity watchdog organization.
"We are proud to announce Operation Homefront has earned our fourth consecutive 4-star rating for its ability to efficiently manage and grow its finances," said Charity Navigator President & CEO Ken Berger. "Only 9% of the charities we rate have received at least 4 consecutive 4-star evaluations, indicating that Operation Homefront consistently executes its mission in a fiscally responsible way, and outperforms most other charities in America. This 'exceptional' designation from Charity Navigator differentiates Operation Homefront from its peers and demonstrates to the public it is worthy of their trust."
"We are very pleased by the rating," said Jim Knotts, President and CEO of Operation Homefront. "This rating is recognition of the incredible effort and dedication by our staff, chapters, and volunteers. We pride ourselves on being good stewards of the resources entrusted to us, and thank all our donors who join us in supporting military families."
In the nonprofit world, having 85% of total revenue going to program is considered excellent. Operation Homefront exceeds those expectations with 95% of total revenue going to programs.
Operation Homefront also recently received an "A" rating from the American Institute of Philanthropy (AIP). More information on AIP's rating is available at CharityWatch.org. Consumers can visit CharityWatch.org for more information about that organization's rating of Operation Homefront.
