GENOA CITY, Wis., Sept. 18, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Police Supporter, a non-profit organization, is launching "Operation Blue Blitz," as a strong show public support campaign for the men and women of law enforcement. Operation Blue Blitz is a simple, inexpensive, yet supportive campaign that actively supports our nation's police community. This coincides with "Thank a Police Officer Day" on Saturday, September 19, 2015. The police community consists of police officers, deputy sheriffs, state troopers, game wardens, federal law enforcement agents, university police officers, sworn constables, sheriffs, 4-legged K-9 officers, and any other individual that is granted the power of arrest by a governmental entity.

Citizens can take an active "show of police support" by doing any or all of the following:
- Hang blue ribbons tied in bows on trees, posts, tops of railings and where visible;
- Blow-up balloons, tie strings to them and place wherever people can see them;
- Use blue painters' tape to put a strip on the inside of your rear window and on your bumper;
- Replace your porch light with a dark blue light bulb and/or on your outside garage lights;
- Place a string of dark blue LED's lights around your front window, porch and/or your bushes;
- Paint a blue stripe or use blue tape on the curb in front of your house to show that you are a safe haven for all police officers for shelter or help;
- Wear all blue – you can never wear too much blue;
- Random act of kindness and buy a police officer's meal if you see an officer in a restaurant;
- Drop off a Thank You card at a local police station, addressed to the officers, and get many signatures as possible on the card, or just from you will work;
- Carefully approach a police officer extend your right hand to shake by saying "Thank You"; and,
- Provide an officer with a blue-wrapper role of LifeSavers, since police are life savers in real life.
You can begin Operation Blue Blitz at any time, but the upcoming special weekend is September 18-20, 2015 with Thank a Police Officer Day being September 19, 2015. The police are there when you need help, so in this time of growing anti-police sentiment, you can be there for them.
