OpenPeak Earns U.S. Government Security Clearance
ADAM® Receives FIPS 140-2 Certification from the National Institute of Standards and Technology
BOCA RATON, Fla., April 7, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- OpenPeak Inc., a leading provider of enterprise-class mobile device and application management solutions, announced today that its ADAM® Mobile Enterprise Management (MEM) solution has earned Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 140-2 certification from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). This achievement officially clears ADAM for use by government agencies.
While OpenPeak has long complied with NIST security guidelines, the FIPS 140-2 certification officially confirms that ADAM has demonstrated the highest standards of protection for sensitive information within IT systems. FIPS 140-2 certification is required for any company seeking to deploy MEM services for government entities. Increasingly, many private organizations in industries such as finance and healthcare require vendors to meet this benchmark in information security.
OpenPeak earned FIPS 140-2 certification for iOS and Android operating systems including multiple version and device combinations. By testing on client devices and servers, OpenPeak earned FIPS compliance for the encryption libraries used to secure communications between devices and servers for complete end-to-end FIPS 140-2 validation.
Specifically, OpenPeak achieved validation for the OpenPeak Cryptographic Security Module (OCSM). The OCSM provides underlying cryptography services to the ADAM platform, an advanced device and application management suite that provides comprehensive mobile enterprise management as a cloud-hosted service. OpenPeak was awarded Certification #2108.
ADAM creates a highly secure and managed mobile environment in which all secured apps only interact with other secure apps. Business apps are segregated from the employee's personal apps on the same device. Business apps are managed, while personal apps and personal data are not.
"ADAM offers app-level security on top of a FIPS-validated solution engineered for the most demanding enterprises," said Andy Aiello, COO of OpenPeak. "In our decision to undergo FIPS testing across devices, operating systems and servers, we've verified that ADAM can provide the highest standard in security no matter what mobile device configurations our clients choose to deploy."
The FIPS 140-2 program is jointly administered by the U.S. and Canada. More information about FIPS 140-2 is available on the NIST and the Communications Security Establishment Canada (CSEC) Cryptographic Module Validation Program (CMVP) website, at http://csrc.nist.gov/groups/STM/cmvp.
