Opening of Chongqing Evergrande Hotel, the First 'Six Plus One' Super-platinum Hotel in China
BEIJING, Oct. 25 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- On the morning of October 23, China Chongqing Evergrande Hotel opened grandly in Chong Evergrande Splendor. This is the second highly starred hotel project launched by Evergrande Real Estate Group, the largest real estate developer in China. Guangzhou Evergrande Hotel has been running well since its opening in July last year. The opening of Chongqing Evergrande Hotel also marks Evergrande's breakthrough in the hotel industry to accelerate the nationwide layout of the tourism complex. An original report on the subject by Sina Leju follows:
Chongqing Evergrande Hotel is a component of Chong Evergrande Splendor Tourism Complex, a "six plus one" project of one super-platinum five-star hotel and six full-function centers. The total investment amount of the super large-scale tourism complex project is up to several billion yuan; the area of the hotel is nearly 60,000 square meters, and the area of the six supporting centers is nearly 100,000 square meters, totaling more than 150,000 square meters.
The opening of Evergrande Hotel on that day attracted the celebrities of business circles, investment banks, important partners of Evergrande Group and over one hundred main-stream media at home and abroad. Present at the site were Huang Qifan, Mayor of Chongqing City, Zheng Hong, Deputy Director of Chongqing NPC, Tan Qiwei, Deputy Mayor of Chongqing City, Xia Peidu, Vice-chairman of Chongqing C.P.P.C.C, Wang Yinfeng, District Committee Secretary of Jiangjin District, Guan Haixiang, Chief Executive of Jiangjin District, Liu Qi, Director of Chongqing Tourist Administration, and other leaders of Chongqing at all levels, showing that the local government attached high importance to this project.
The "six plus one" operation mode of Chongqing Evergrande Hotel is quite attractive. This is originated, designed, constructed and managed by Evergrande. Xia Haijun, Vice-chairman of the Board of Directors and President of Evergrande Group, said, "Chongqing Evergrande Hotel is the explorer and leader of the development trend of China's hotel industry after the integration of global resources." Chongqing Evergrande Hotel is located in the core district of New Town in the west of Chongqing, settled in the "half-hour economic circle" of Chongqing, and simultaneously planned to be the urban sub-CBD of Chongqing.
The tourism complex will be the next highlight of the development of the hotel industry. Based on the real estate, with a top-grade hotel as the carrier, with first-rate natural humanistic service environment as the prerequisite, and with high-quality and full-function services as the fundamentals, the tourism complex integrates touring, leisure, conference and exhibition, catering, performing and sports as a whole. At present, the total number of guest rooms of starred hotels in China is 2 million, and it is estimated to increase to 5 million within 5-7 years. Analysts believe that China will be one of the main markets invested in by international hotel magnates. The second-tier cities will become the key expansion area after the domestic first-tier cities become saturated.
Evergrande is the developer with the largest sales area and the most layout in the second-tier cities in China, and Chongqing is a city in the first nationwide strategic layout of Evergrande. At present, the annual sales volume of Chongqing Evergrande is more than 4 billion yuan. By the first half year of 2010, the number of cities in the layout of Evergrande increased from 2 in 2006 to 36, a 17-fold increase; the area of land reserve increased from 3.1 million square meters in 2006 to 72.38 million square meters, a 22-fold increase; the area under construction increased from over 700,000 square meters in 2006 to 23.06 million square meters, an 32-fold increase; the building hand-over amount increased from 1.89 billion yuan to 20.25 billion yuan, a 10-fold increase. By September this year, the Group had achieved the sales volume of 35.6 billion yuan, a 20-fold increase compared to that in 2006.
