OpenGov Acquires Open Data Leader Ontodia

REDWOOD CITY, Calif., April 13, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Today OpenGov, the world leader in government financial intelligence, planning, and transparency, expands its platform with the acquisition of Ontodia. Ontodia is the leading provider of Open Data and performance management solutions using CKAN, the premier open-source data-portal for governments around the world. CKAN powers Data.gov, the home of U.S. Government's Open Data initiative, Data.gov.uk, and hundreds of Open Data solutions for cities, counties, states, and national governments.

Ontodia co-founders Joel Natividad and Sami Baig, two of the most well known CKAN Open Data experts in North America, join OpenGov along with all other Ontodia employees and will work in OpenGov's New York office.

  CivicDashboards expands OpenGov's existing repository of current, transaction-level multi-fund government financial data by adding the world's largest publicly-available repository of location-specific data and preloaded maps from high-value data sources such as the U.S. Census, FBI, USPTO, SOCDS Building Permits, U.S. Dept of Housing and Urban Development, Dept of Education, Dept of Labor, Dept of Transportation, Dept of Labor Statistics, and Dept of Commerce for over 3,000 counties and 35,000 townships and municipalities in the United States.  
  
  
• Customizable Performance Dashboards
  CivicDashboards serve as a framework for building sophisticated operational dashboards for staff, managers, elected officials, and citizens with data from CKAN and other Open Data sources.
