MCFARLAND, Wis., April 29, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Wisconsin Virtual Academy (WIVA), a tuition-free online public charter school, reminds families with students in grades K-12 who are considering WIVA to submit an application during the state's open enrollment period which ends at 4 PM CST on Thursday, April 30, 2015. Submitting an open enrollment application does not commit families to enroll in WIVA for the upcoming 2015-2016 school year, but does provide them with the option to do so at a later date.
WIVA accepts students from across the state of Wisconsin and takes an individualized approach to learning, combining online instruction and hands-on curriculum with the support of Wisconsin-licensed teachers who are available online and by phone. To help parents and children learn more about the program, WIVA will host free online information sessions on Wednesday, April 29, and Thursday, April 30. Interested families are encouraged to visit wiva.k12.com for more information on the school, the information sessions, and how to submit an open enrollment application.
WIVA is the only school in Wisconsin offering the complete K12 curriculum, developed by K12 Inc., the nation's largest provider of proprietary curriculum and online education programs. Students who enroll in WIVA receive an individualized education experience, designed to let K-8 students find the learning style that works best for them and enable high school students to find their own path to post-high school success. Students use web-based lessons and hands-on instructional materials that are shipped to their home.
"We invite Wisconsin parents to learn more about our school and how it helps students achieve academic success in a way that works for their learning style," said Dr. Leslye Moraski Erickson, Head of School at Wisconsin Virtual Academy. "We combine a research-based curriculum with expert teachers and extensive support to provide an outstanding education."
WIVA provides courses in language arts/English, math, science, history, art, world languages, and music for students in grades K-8, while the high school program offers students more than 100 core, elective and Advanced Placement® courses, as well as up to four levels of world languages. At WIVA, college- or career-minded students can choose from a broad range of profession-focused courses in order to gain a competitive edge for the future, discover their path after high school or explore a possible college major.
Families can find more information on the school and how to submit an open enrollment application at wiva.k12.com.
