PHILADELPHIA, June 8, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Hundreds of members of the Office and Professional Employees International Union (OPEIU) will stand in solidarity with their union sister and brother members of the Health Professionals and Allied Employees (HPAE), AFT/AFL-CIO on strike against the American Red Cross at an informational picket on Friday, June 10 at 11:15 a.m. at the American Red Cross headquarters at 700 Spring Garden Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
OPEIU and the HPAE are part of a coalition of unions representing workers at the American Red Cross nationwide. The ARC has approximately 29,000 employees, a quarter of which are unionized. "OPEIU will be out in force on Friday in Philadelphia to show that we are standing in solidarity with HPAE and the other coalition partners that are struggling with the American Red Cross," said OPEIU International President Michael Goodwin.
