Onvia Drives $100 Million in Revenues for Memphis Chamber Members
Government-Contracting Data and Analysis Leader Connects Chamber of Commerce Members in Memphis, Other Major U.S. Cities with Local and Regional Bids and RFPs
SEATTLE, Dec. 14, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Onvia (Nasdaq: ONVI), the leading provider of gBusiness solutions, announced that its 18-month partnership with the Greater Memphis Chamber of Commerce has now generated more than $100 million in government-contracting revenues for its members.
As a firm that tracks and reports the spending of more than 89,000 federal, state and local government agencies, Onvia gives companies a single source for conducting open, intelligent and efficient business with the government. The company has partnered with U.S. chambers to help the organizations' members gain an advantage over competitors in finding and winning government contracts in their respective metro areas.
"It's no secret that there has been a fundamental shift in the U.S. economy that has opened up a new marketplace in government contracting, which provides additional revenue streams for businesses across the country," said Michael Balsam, Onvia chief strategy officer. "Memphis Chamber members are among those taking notice; they regard the government like any other customer that's open for business, and it's had a considerable impact on their bottom line."
In April of 2009, the Memphis Chamber partnered with Onvia to develop RFP Central, a Chamber-branded daily e-newsletter containing the latest local government bids and RFPs that is delivered to its 2,500 members. RFP Central tracks and collates new government projects and provides decision-maker and buyer information to help Chamber members identify and respond to contract opportunities.
"Put simply, RFP Central gives our members an edge over the competition," said John Moore, CEO of the Greater Memphis Chamber of Commerce. "We exist for the purpose of economic development; why wouldn't we take advantage of a service that can help our members rake in such substantial opportunity? One hundred million dollars is not a small number."
Onvia has also partnered with the Bellevue (Wash.) Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Philadelphia (Pa.) Chamber of Commerce and is currently in negotiations with chambers nationally.
