OnStar FMV Mirror Earns Good Housekeeping Seal
DETROIT, Aug. 31, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- In its first month of retail sales, OnStar FMV (For My Vehicle) is already displaying one of the most respected accolades for a consumer product: the Good Housekeeping Seal.
The Good Housekeeping Seal is a symbol of quality and assurance that a product sufficiently meets all of the claims on its packaging and marketing materials. Before OnStar FMV could earn the Seal, it had to be evaluated by the experts at the Good Housekeeping Research Institute.
"OnStar has a long-standing reputation for high-quality service, and we have seen this carried out through their new aftermarket product," said Patricia Haegele, senior vice president, publishing director and chief revenue officer at Good Housekeeping.
Originally available only as an embedded option on most General Motors vehicles, OnStar now offers a replacement rearview mirror that can be installed on 90 million vehicles already on the road, so that more drivers can experience OnStar's safety and connectivity services. Consumers can check their vehicle's compatibility with FMV through OnStar's online compatibility tool.
OnStar FMV is available at consumer electronics stores, such as Best Buy, across the United States. The Seal provides OnStar FMV customers with an added reassurance. According to the Good Housekeeping Consumers' Refund or Replacement Policy, if a product that bears the Seal proves to be defective within two years of purchase, Good Housekeeping will replace or repair the product, or refund the purchase price.
"We were able to use OnStar's 15 years of service and customer feedback in the development of OnStar FMV," said Greg Ross, vice president of business planning and extensions. "To be awarded the Good Housekeeping Seal is a recognition of the meticulous planning, hard work and ingenuity that went into this product."
OnStar was recognized by Good Housekeeping in 2005 when it earned the first-ever Best Service Award from the Good Housekeeping Research Institute.
"The Institute saw OnStar as a breakthrough in providing consumers with 24/7 driver's assistance—including lifesaving services from trained personnel," Haegele said.
The same core services and specially trained live advisors that established OnStar as a leading telematics provider are the backbone of OnStar FMV. Subscribers of FMV can get Turn-by-Turn Directions, Automatic Crash Response, Stolen Vehicle Assistance, Hands-Free Calling and Roadside Assistance, among other features.
OnStar, a wholly owned subsidiary of General Motors, is the leading provider of connected safety and security solutions, value-added mobility services and advanced information technology.
