MARLTON, N.J., May 17, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- ONPATH Technologies, the leader in scalable connectivity and monitoring solutions for high performance networks, today announced that it has launched a new product bundle to support the promotion of their advanced platform for network monitoring infrastructures, which enables network managers to conserve time, increase the utilization of their network, and save money.

ONPATH's Network Monitoring solutions have been expanded to include the most complete layer 1-4 networking products on the market. The UCS product family now provides customers with the ability to instantly and reliably move analyzer tools, used for network or application performance monitoring and security, throughout the network without impacting the applications or performance itself. Management and monitoring of the UCS through ONPATH's HorizON software can support hundreds of test points, and be done from a secure web-based access interface from any location. The combination of all UCS products in an integrated solution enables the lowest latency (as low as 5 nsec per switch) with the highest density (up to 48 ports per rack unit) and highest scalability (up to 4,000 non-blocking ports), depending upon applications and configurations.
The UCS bundled solution supports Ethernet packet aggregation and filtering, as well as physical layer Ethernet, Fibre Channel, and SONET. The portfolio supports speed ranges from under 1Mbps to over 100Gbps per port. The systems also enable replication of SPAN and TAP ports, allowing for broader access to more of the critical, but expensive high-performance tools. With improved access to and utilization of these network tools, the reach can be expanded and the need for additional investment can be dramatically reduced, while allowing customers to increase the overall security, reliability, and performance of their network.
In a 2010 report from market research firm Enterprise Management Associates (EMA), nearly half of network and security operations professionals polled cited a shortage of, and an inability to share, SPAN or TAP ports for monitoring tools. Two-thirds of the group said they simply lacked sufficient monitoring tools and tool budgets, and even more reported monitoring tools are not deployed optimally, resulting in either under-utilization of these expensive tools, or dropped packets due to their over-subscription.
"ONPATH's Network Monitoring solutions enable our customers to increase the utilization of their existing network performance testing, application monitoring, and security tools," said Brian McCann, CEO of ONPATH Technologies. "By optimizing the utilization and performance of these critical tools, our solutions allow customers to achieve total network visibility and manage change within the network more quickly, securely, and cost-effectively."
Network Monitoring is one of four key application areas in which ONPATH focuses its UCS product family – the other applications include Test Automation, Cloud Networking, and Cyber Security. The UCS family of scalable physical layer switching systems for high-performance connectivity and monitoring applications supports scalability beyond 100,000 ports, and speeds from less than 1 Mbps to over 100 Gbps. Combined with the HorizON management software, ONPATH's solutions are the most scalable, secure, future-proof-proof solutions available in the market today.
