Online Education Leader Addresses Demand for Hardware and Software Training
Ashworth College Launches Computer Service and Repair Programs
NORCROSS, Ga., Sept. 27 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Ashworth College announced today the addition of two new accredited technology diploma programs to its roster of online college programs. Ashworth's (http://www.ashworthcollege.edu) new courses, Computer Service and Repair: Hardware and Computer Service and Repair: Software have been developed to address the growing need for trained professionals in this in-demand field.
Computers can be seen in every sphere of life and these two new programs will prepare computer professionals to take the A+ Certification Exam. If the goal is to become certified, the A+ Certification Exam is the industry standard for evaluating competency in entry-level computer service.
Students will be taken beyond troubleshooting printers, modems, monitors, keyboards, sound boards, CD-ROM drives and other peripherals. A+ Certified Professionals are usually expected to carry out the following tasks which are covered in the comprehensive curriculum:
- Installation and setup, upgrading, repairs, troubleshooting, maintenance of desktops, laptops, printers, and all other peripherals.
- Full understanding of the network configurations and operating systems.
- The setup, training in the use of systems, as well as software related tasks. Installation of software packages, upgrade and update of software, troubleshoot application and system errors, advise users on software use, train users, writing of training/user manuals, overseeing PC usage and so on.
"Our program caters to technology professionals who need to upgrade their skills in order to take their career to the next level, as well as those just starting out," said John Riser, Program Director for Ashworth Career School. "From the CertBlaster Preparation Exam to A+ mapping grids and sample reports, we're here to give them the tools they need to sit for the A+ Certification exam."
Each of the of two specialty concentrations – hardware and software -- is comprised of up to 11 comprehensive lessons. Ashworth's Computer Service and Repair programs also include textbooks from top publishers, online study guides, video clips and online student support.
Because Ashworth is a distance education institution, students can start the program at any time, study at their own pace, and take exams online. The program is extremely conducive to the working professional's schedule.
"Like all of our career programs, the Computer Service and Repair Program is self paced," commented Riser. "Many of our students work full-time jobs and have families. We made this as flexible as possible so that they can incorporate their studies into their work and family schedules. And studying at home eliminates traveling to a classroom."
