PARSIPPANY, N.J., May 2, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Onkos Surgical announced the completion of the company's first ELEOS Limb Salvage System procedure using uDesign Patient Solutions. uDesign delivers an interactive experience, enabling a personalized planning approach for each patient. The first surgery was conducted by Steven Gitelis, M.D., of Rush University Medical Center in Chicago.
"We want to create a high touch service platform that enables our customers to visualize their surgical plan with the goal of providing consistent information about the sequencing of our products. uDesign brings a level of expertise and planning typically reserved for the most complex cases and makes it available for all cases. During the planning session, the surgeon provides inputs and shares workflow preferences that enable a very detailed and personalized pre-surgical planning approach," said Sean Curry, Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations at Onkos Surgical. "The output of the process ensures that Onkos consistently delivers the right bundle of products; maximizing our customer's experience with Onkos and streamlining our supply chain."
Dr. Gitelis explained, "ELEOS, coupled with uDesign, represents a critical transformation in musculoskeletal oncology. While there have been small steps taken to assist in making oncology surgery more reproducible, my colleagues and I have been seeking superior technologies to better personalize surgery based on our desired outcomes. Successful surgical outcomes start with a successful plan. The output of the interaction with Onkos brought to life my highly personalized ELEOS plan in a logical and simplified process; maximizing the probability of a more successful outcome for my patient."
